Citrus Libraries Celebrates Cultural Heritage

November is a month rich with cultural heritage and historical events. The Coastal Region branch in Crystal River is happy to host several speakers throughout the month to inform and enrich the public.
On Monday, November 8 at 1:00 PM Dr. Vera Swade will be presenting an infamous piece of Ukrainian history, The Holodomor. After Dr. Swade’s presentation attendees are encouraged to tour and ask questions about her standing exhibit throughout the community room.

November is also recognized as Native American Heritage Month and is a time to celebrate the diverse traditions of Native Americas. On Tuesday, November 9 at 10:30 AM, Don Clark will be demonstrating a traditional smudging ceremony. Mr. Clark is from the Lumbee tribe of North Carolina and will share his insights into the sacred ceremony.

On Friday, November 12 at 1:00 PM local photographer Gary Kuhl will be presenting a travelogue of his experiences in both Ireland and Scotland. The presentation will be accompanied by photos taken during his trip to these beautiful landscapes.

These library programs are free and open to everyone, with no registration required. For additional information about these events, please call the Coastal Region Library at (352) 795-3716, or go to the library’s website, citruslibraries.org. Additional information about programs and events can also be found online by following Citrus Libraries on Facebook.
