Citrus Libraries Joins Inaugural Big Movie Watch, a Kanopy Film Club
Looking for a new rom-com to try out this February? Look no further than the new Big Movie Watch with Kanopy! Similar to the Big Library Read that occurs each year, Citrus Libraries cardholders are invited to join the viewing party for free during the Big Movie Watch. From February 5-19, movie-lovers with a valid library card can join thousands of others around the globe by borrowing What’s Love Got to Do with It?, a 2022 romcom starring Lily Jaes, Mim Shaikh, and Iman Boujelouah from their public library. Citrus Libraries card holders can borrow the movie or free without waiting on the Kanopy app, or visiting kanopy.com/citruslibraries. Readers can then discuss online at: lib.kanopy.com/bigmoviewatch/join-the-discussion/.
“Last month we launched Kanopy, a long-anticipated addition to our services,” said Citrus Libraries Digital Services Librarian Vicky Leon. “Thankfully we got our site up and running with enough time to be able to participate in this inaugural movie club!”
About the movie: How do you find lasting love in today’s world? For documentary filmmaker Zoe (Lily James), swiping right to find Mr. Right has only delivered bad dates and funny anecdotes. For her childhood friend Kazim (Shazad Latif), the answer is to opt for an assisted marriage. As Zoe films his hopeful journey to marry a stranger, she begins to wonder if she might have something to learn from a different approach to finding love.
Kanopy is an online database of films, documentaries, video courses and children’s content. Download the app, watch on your browser, or cast to you smart TV. Citrus Libraries offers residents with a library card access to thousands of titles each month.
