Get ‘Fit’ at Citrus Libraries

Exercise is considered one of the best ways to get in shape and stay healthy. Unfortunately, just going out and exercising isn’t always the easiest option. Your last injury may make it difficult to move around or you just can’t take the high impact exercises that everyone else is doing. This doesn’t even take into consideration the amount of money that you would need to spend on a gym membership!

This is where your local library comes in. The Coastal Region branch in Crystal River offers a free, low impact chair exercise series called “Sit & Be Fit!”. Classes are held Thursdays beginning at 10:30AM. This class focuses on low impact stretches and strengthening exercises, all done from a seated position. These exercises are aimed at improving flexibility, learning weight control, and reducing the chance of injury. This supportive group is always happy to welcome new members and share in your fitness or recovery journey.

Prefer something a little different? There are other low impact exercise programs available throughout the library system. Stop by the Homosassa branch on Mondays at 5:30PM for Belly Dancing or the Lakes Region branch in Inverness on Wednesdays at 4:45PM for Yang Tai Chi.

These programs are free and available to everyone, with no registration required. For additional information about programming please call your local library branch, go to the library’s website, citruslibraries.org, or follow Citrus Libraries on Facebook and Instagram at @CitrusLibraries.
