Florida and the Civil War: A Historical Presentation

The first national observance of Memorial Day occurred May 30, 1868, three years after the official ending of the Civil War. On Tuesday, May 30 of this year, Mark Moore from the Scientific Education Training and Support (SETS) Foundation will be giving a presentation at the Lakes Region Library on the role Florida played in Civil War history, as well as taking a deep dive into the lesser-known battles and skirmishes that happened on Florida soils, specifically those near Cedar Key and St. Marks.

Bullets and other artifacts from the time period will also be displayed. Spaces are limited and registration is preferred.

Library programs are free and available to everyone. For additional information about programming please call your local branch or follow @CitrusLibraries on Facebook and Instagram. Additional information can also be found by visiting us at citruslibraries.org.
