Demystifying the Prewrite: Getting Ready for NaNoWriMo

Are you already a writer who’s looking for their big break? Are you someone looking to get started but aren’t sure where to even begin?

Established in 1999, National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) began simply as a way to get people writing, with the goal of writing 50,000 words in the span of thirty days starting from November 1st. Now almost 24 years later, NaNoWriMo sports hundreds of thousands of participants worldwide, supported by libraries, bookstores, and community centers.

This year on Friday, October 27 at 1:00 PM, Lakes Region Library in Inverness will be hosting the Citrus Writers of Florida for a program designed to let you hit the ground running, whether you intend to participate in NaNoWriMo or just want some strategies for making the writing process a little easier. Published authors from the community will be speaking on topics such as: character development and worldbuilding, narrative arcs, choosing your genre, and of course: the NaNoWriMo process and personal experiences from those who’ve already done it.

Limited spaces for this one-of-a-kind workshop are limited and registration is required.

Library programs are free and available to everyone. For additional information about programming please call your local branch, follow @CitrusLibraries on Facebook or Instagram, or visit us in person. Additional information can also be found by visiting us at citruslibraries.org.
