Volunteer Spotlight February 2026, Peggy, a Volunteer at Coastal Region Library.

Volunteer Spotlight February 2026

Every month, the Citrus County Library System features a volunteer in their “Outside the Stacks” blog on their website. This month, Coastal Region Library would like to shine the spotlight on Peggy. We asked Peggy several questions and thought it would be fun to share her responses!

Peggy

Q: Why did you start volunteering?

A: Since we moved to Crystal River from Denver, I had started doing taxes for AARP to meet people.  Since that was only 3 months of the year, I needed another volunteer position and I chose the library.

Q: Has volunteering changed how you see the library?

A: The library does so much for the community in the way of classes, tech help and so many other things.

Q: How long have you been volunteering?

A: I have been volunteering at the library for over 7 years.

Q: Who is your favorite author?

A: I don’t really have a favorite author. I have three authors of which I have read all their books: John Grisham, Joanne Fluke and Janet Evanovich.

Q: Other than volunteering, what do you like to do with your free time?

A: I bowl in three leagues and some tournaments. I also read and enjoy kayaking.

Q: What other causes are you passionate about and why?

A: The manatees are an important part of Crystal River and with all the development going on, the Nature Coast is disappearing. I am going to volunteer at Three Sisters Springs.

Q: Do you volunteer anywhere else in the community?

A: I volunteer at the gift shop at Rainbow Springs State Park. I am also still doing taxes with AARP.

Thank you, Peggy, for dedicating your time to the Coastal Region Library! We truly appreciate all of our volunteers and are glad to spotlight one of the many special people that help to keep our branch running smoothly.
