Volunteer Spotlight February 2024

Every month, the Citrus County Library System features a volunteer in their “Outside the Stacks” blog on their website. This month, Coastal Region Library would like to shine the spotlight on Evelyn Bailey. We asked Evelyn several questions and thought it would be fun to share her responses!

Q: How long have you been volunteering at the library?

A: 13 months (since December 2022)

Q: What inspired you to volunteer with the library?

A: I love books and I love to read. One day, I was walking around in the library and I thought to myself I could volunteer here.

Q: Why is it important to you to volunteer at the library?

A: Citrus County Libraries meet so many needs in this county, and if I can contribute to the long-term productivity of the library system, that will be wonderful.

Q: Who is your favorite author?

A: Ann B. Ross

Q: What book to you recommend to all of your friends to read and why?

A: A Land Remembered by Patrick D. Smith – As at least a 4th generation Floridian, I think it is a great fictionalized account of the beginnings of Florida and especially the cattle industry. It portrays the hardness and harshness of the Florida pioneer way of life.

Q: Other than volunteering, what do you like to do with your free time?

A: Read and visit family.

Q: What is your favorite food?

A: Ice cream
