Volunteer Spotlight November 2023

Every month, the Citrus County Library System features a volunteer in their “Outside the Stacks” blog on their website. This month, the Floral City Library would like to shine the spotlight on Natalia. We asked Natalia several questions and we wanted to share her responses!

Natalia

Q: Has volunteering changed how you see the library?

A: Volunteering has definitely changed how I see the library because it taught me about all of the small steps and everything behind the scenes that goes into making it run smoothly. I appreciate libraries much more too after seeing how much it does for our community and how it can bring people together.

Q: What has been one of your favorite volunteer moments?

A: Rather than a specific moment, my favorite memories have been getting to know the people that work and volunteer here. I always look forward to seeing everyone here and my time with them has been my favorite memory.

Q: What inspired you to volunteer with the library?

A: When I was younger I came to our library and I remember meeting TerryAnn and how sweet she was when I first moved here from another state. Her kindness and love of her place of work made me want to come and volunteer here as soon as I could.

Q: Who is your favorite author?

A: My favorite author right now is Gabriel García Marquez. I love his style of writing and how creative his books are with magical realism.

Q: What do you want to do after you graduate from high school?

A: After I graduate I hope to go to the University of Florida and double major in a social studies and STEM major.

Q: Do you volunteer anywhere else in the community?

A: I also spend a lot of time volunteering for school events and various clubs that I am part of. However, no matter how many other places I have dedicated my time, the library and the people here have always had a special place in my heart.
