Volunteer Spotlight November 2025

Every month, the Citrus County Library System features a volunteer in their “Outside the Stacks” blog on their website. This month, the Floral City Library would like to shine the spotlight on Mary. We asked Mary several questions and thought it would be fun to share her responses!

Q: What has been one of your favorite volunteer moments?

A: One of my favorite moments was assisting with the children’s summer reading program- watching their excitement, listening to a story, and creating a craft afterwards.

Q: How has volunteering impacted your life?

A: Volunteering has allowed me to make many new interesting friends, do rewarding work, and to get to know our library staff, they are wonderful people!

Q: Why is it important to you to volunteer at the library?

A: As a citizen I feel it is important to volunteer and give back to our community, each of us is enriched by the hours we volunteer.

Q: Other than volunteering, what do you like to do with your free time?

A: My free time is spent reading, hosting game days at my house, reading, working in my yard, and… did I mention reading?

Q: What is your favorite food?

A: Hint hint! I am partial to Panera’s Chocolate Croissants!

Q: Do you volunteer anywhere else in the community?

A: I volunteer with the Blessings of Citrus County Organization, I also serve as Vice President of the Friends of the Floral City Library, and I collect supplies to distribute to the homeless.
