From the Director’s Desk – February 2026

February is National Library Month, and there’s no better time to celebrate the vital role of our libraries here in Citrus County. Whether you’re checking out a book, attending a program, or simply enjoying time at the library, libraries are an essential resource in our community.

Every visit to the library matters and is worth celebrating. Each time a library card  is issued, a new author is discovered, or a connection made through a program, it helps to demonstrate the value of our libraries and strengthens support for the services they provide. This month you can show your support by attending one of the hundreds of free library programs, exploring a new book genre, or getting a library card. Whether you visit every day or maybe haven’t been to the library for a while, our staff are ready to welcome you.

This February, I’m also excited to highlight our upcoming winter fundraiser, BOOKED: An Evening for Citrus Libraries. This event will be held at the Coastal Region Library in Crystal River on Saturday, February 28 from 6:00-8:30 PM. Tickets are $50 and may be purchased at any library branch or online.

Proceeds from BOOKED go directly toward supporting future capital improvement projects. Thanks to over a decade of generous support at fundraisers like BOOKED and Love Your Library, we recently completed a full renovation of the Coastal Region Library. I hope you can join me this month to celebrate our libraries and look ahead as we create spaces that will serve generations to come.
