Music & Movement Storytime Debuts at Citrus Libraries

Dance like no one’s watching while learning about music and how it moves you, from a new storytime program at the Homosassa Library. “Music & Movement” will begin Thursday, March 16, from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM, with a second session on Thursday, March 30 at the same time. Additional storytimes will be held on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of April and May.

Music involves math, reading and science, while dance and movement help us with body and spatial awareness, creativity, and even physical health and fitness. Participants will move with fun activities and props, listen to and recognize different musical styles, genres and instruments, and make music of their own with basic rhythm- and simple wind- instruments. A selection of books and stories about music and dance, musicians, choreographers and conductors will also be featured.

This program is intended for babies and toddlers, and their caregivers. No registration is necessary. For additional information on storytime programs hosted by Citrus Libraries, you can visit attend.citruslibraries.org/events, or follow @CitrusLibraries on Facebook and Instagram.

Two brothers recently attended a letter “X” themed Tiny Tales storytime at the Floral City Library that brought out the collection of instruments, specifically the xylophone. Additional instruments will be used during the upcoming “Music & Movement” storytime at the Homosassa Library.
