Alissa W. is our volunteer spotlight for February 2023.
Why did you start volunteering?
I had extra time with nothing to do and I like that I can indirectly help people.
Has volunteering changed how you see the library?
I’ve always loved the library but volunteering has made me more comfortable here and allowed me to visit anytime without anxiety!
What’s been one of your favorite volunteer moments?
I really enjoy whenever I can help the librarians because they’re all so nice. Especially when I worked with Ms. Debbie to plan a youth activity for the youth. Everyone is so kind and funny, I love working with them.
What’s something you would say to encourage someone else to volunteer?
It truly is wonderful to help people through the library as well as gain the knowledge to use the library to its full potential whenever I need it. There are so many opportunities and benefits from volunteering that I can’t imagine what I would do with the time otherwise.
