October Volunteer Spotlight Rose

Volunteer Spotlight October 2023

Every month, the Citrus County Library System features a volunteer in their “Outside the Stacks” blog on their website. This month, the Homosassa Library would like to shine the spotlight on Rose. We asked Rose several questions and we wanted to share her responses!

Volunteer Spotlight on Rose October 2023

Rose

Q: What has been one of your favorite volunteer moments?

A: My proudest moment of being a volunteer was when two of my students passed their citizenship test.

Q: What are some of the challenges you’ve faced while volunteering and how have you overcome them?

A: My greatest challenge of teaching Everyday English was that I only speak one language. My classes are like the U.N., all the students help me and the other students to understand. We use the library resources and are very patient with each other.

Q: Why is it important to you to volunteer at the library?

A: Since I have been retired I think it is important to give back to the community I live in. More free time gives me the ability to volunteer. The library was my best choice because of all the support and guidance I received from the staff.

Q: Who is your favorite author?

A: Patricia Cromwell is my favorite author. I love murder mysteries that use forensics to solve a crime.

Q: What other causes are you passionate about and why?

A: My other favorite cause is animal rescue. I have on dog and three cats, which are all rescues. I am passionate about controlling pet overpopulation and what all animals to be loved and not abused.

Q: What is a fun fact about you?

A: I am a sports fanatic. Family know not to bother me when games are on, especially football. My favorite player was Tom Brady. Now I have to find a new one!
