Volunteer Spotlight January 2026
Every month, the Citrus County Library System features a volunteer in their “Outside the Stacks” blog on their website. This month, Lakes Region Library would like to shine the spotlight on Deb. We asked Deb several questions and thought it would be fun to share her responses!

Q: What has been one of your favorite volunteer moments?
A: I love helping people find items they are looking for and getting compliments on the names of the book carts, such as, Mary Shelvey and Trolley Parton.
Q: How long have you been volunteering with the library?
A: For years, and prior to that I was on the Friends of the Citrus County Library System Board.
Q: Why is it important to you to volunteer at the library?
A: I find it very fulfilling to volunteer at the library, it gives me a sense of purpose and feeling needed.
Q: What is a fun fact about you?
A: I belong to the “Pizza Lovers of Citrus County” and go on “pizza crawls” to various pizzeria’s once a month.
Q: Do you volunteer anywhere else in the community?
A: I am a board member of the Inverness Zoning Board of Adjustments.
Q: Tell us about your best vacation ever
A: I rode my motorcycle to the 60th annual Sturgis motorcycle rally in August of 2000.
