Genealogy Research at Citrus Libraries

Though a green thumb is not needed to successfully research your family tree, you do need to know what resources are available and how to best use those resources. The Citrus County Library System is here to help you along with your research by providing databases, books, classes, and 1-on-1 assistance for our community.

If books and databases interest you, visit www.citruslibraries.org/services-resources/genealogy to find what is available in the collection. Everything from guidebooks to links to genealogy websites can be found here. There is information about how to access databases, such as Ancestry.com, HeritageQuest Online, and American Ancestors by New England Historic Genealogical Society.

You can register for our Tech Talk titled Connecting the Ties: Genealogy Research in the Library to gain a better understanding of genealogy and research. The following branches will be hosting this class in 2022:

Lakes Region Branch (Inverness): January 21st at 10:15AM
Floral City Branch: February 7th at 10:15AM
Homosassa Branch: March 16th at 10:15AM

For those who have been researching their family trees and need help, the Citrus County Genealogical Society is giving 1-on-1 instruction on Friday mornings 10:00AM to 12:00PM at the Homosassa branch and Lakes Region branch. Sign up for a one-hour appointment, provide details about the assistance that is needed, and work with an expert to try finding the information that has been eluding your research up to this point.

To register for Connecting the Ties: Genealogy Research in the Library or for a Genealogy 1-on-1, visit citruslibraries.org or call your nearest branch. To stay up-to-date on all of the classes and programs being offered at the library, you can follow @CitrusLibraries on Facebook and Instagram.
