Getting a Library Card is easy and free! Visit any Citrus County Library to fill out an application in person, or use our online form to apply for one today! Library Card Registration Form
Fill out the form below to receive a digital Citrus County library card.
Signing up for a card:
- Only adults ages 18+ can fill out this form.
- You must be a resident of Citrus County. You can check if your address falls into our service area by clicking here.
- You will not receive a physical card.
Upon verification in our system, you will receive an email with your card barcode and you can start using your new card immediately.
Access all of Citrus Libraries resources in-person and online with this digital card. If you decide you want to switch to a physical card, please visit one of our libraries and staff will assist you. Please note that your Barcode and PIN will change if you switch to a physical card.
Don’t live in Citrus County? You can apply in-person for a nonresident card. Nonresident cards are $15 and good for 1 year.
Renewing your card
Auto-renew: If your account information has not changed, we’ll attempt to automatically renew your library card the day it’s set to expire. If you have a Juvenile, reciprocal, or nonresident card, please visit or call your library to renew.
Other ways to renew: If your information has changed or you have a Juvenile, reciprocal, or nonresident card, please visit or call your library to renew your library card.

Proof of residency is required to apply for a Library Card. These include:
- A current Florida Driver License with your Citrus County Address
- A current Florida ID Card
- Citrus County tax receipt
- Citrus County School ID
- Proof of employment in Citrus County
- Utility or telephone bill
- Rental or Lease Agreement
- Personal checkbook with printed local address
- A valid library card from a reciprocal borrowing library
Yes, you can get a Citrus County Library card with proof of employment in the County. This includes an employment badge or pay stub.
Yes, if you live in Florida, you may qualify for a free Library card if you live in a County we share Reciprocal Borrowing privileges with. Reciprocal Libraries include those in the Tampa Bay Library Consortium (TBLC) or Marion and Levy County Libraries. When filling out your application in person, you’ll need to show a valid form of ID with name and address, along with the Library Card to your home Library.
If you don’t live in a Reciprocal Borrowing County, or don’t have a Library Card for any of those counties, you can still apply for a Nonresident Card.

Yes, if you don’t live in the state of Florida, you can apply for a Nonresident Library Card.
Apply in person at any Citrus County Library and show a valid form of ID with your name and address.
Nonresident Library Cards are $15 per person for one year of access to all of Citrus County Library’s materials both physical and digital. Nonresident cards can be renewed annually for $15.
You can use your Citrus County Library Card at any of the 5 Branches in Citrus County. Check out books and movies, use one of our computers, and get access to our catalog of eBooks, audiobooks, and digital magazines.
Yes, if you lost your Library card, you can get a replacement Library Card in person at any of our branches for $1.00.
Library cards are active for 3 years. We'll send you a reminder by email that your card will be expiring in 30 days and attempt to automatically renew your library card the day it expires. Make sure your account information is correct for the automatic renewal. You can also renew by visiting your library once you get the reminder email or if the automatic renewal did not renew your card.
Our system will verify your information, then renew your account. By renewing your library card, you will not receive a new card, your existing card and account will be extended for 3 years.
Non-resident cards are active for 1 year and can be renewed yearly for $15, they cannot be automatically renewed. If you have a non-resident card and you are unable to renew in person due to not being in state you may mail a check or money order, made payable to the Citrus County Library System.

Yes, if you forgot to bring your Library Card you can still check out items. Please show a valid form of ID and verify your information in order to check out materials. We also recommend saving your library card to a digital wallet on your mobile device. You can create a digital wallet version of your library card Here.
No, we can not share your card’s barcode number with you or any other person. If you need access to Library computers or to your account online, please request a replacement of your Library card for $1.00.
