Excel: Getting Started

This class is an introduction to Microsoft Excel 2010. You will learn about some of the tabs and menus in Excel, while learning how to enter data into cells, perform simple equations, and graph your results.
Prerequisites: Getting Started with Computers or equivalent computer skills; strong keyboard and mouse skills are required.

Excel: Intermediate

A follow up to Excel: Getting Started. In this class you will learn more advanced formulas and tricks.
Prerequisites: Getting Started with Computers or equivalent computer skills and Excel: Getting Started. Strong keyboard and mouse skills are required.

File Management

This class will cover how to create and save files, navigate through the files on your computer, and recognize different file types, as well as how to delete or retrieve files. We will also discuss the different storage options you will have for your files.
Prerequisites: Getting Started with Computers or equivalent computer skills; strong keyboard and mouse skills are required.

Getting Started with Computers

This class will introduce you to the components of a computer, operating systems, programs, and applications. You will learn how to use the mouse and the keyboard to give commands and receive information from the computer. This class will also cover the basics of creating, editing, saving and printing files. We will be using the Windows 7 Operating System on a Desktop system.
Prerequisites: None.

Getting Started with Facebook

Facebook is an online social networking service. This class introduces some of the basics of Facebook. In this class we’ll discuss why Facebook is used, help you create your own Facebook account, navigate through basic settings, learn how to add pictures, send friend requests, like pages, and help you get started using Facebook today!
Prerequisites: Getting Started with Computers or equivalent computer skills; experience using the Internet. An e-mail address is required.

Getting Started with Gmail

In this class, you will learn how to compose and send emails, attach and open file attachments, add and manage contacts.
Prerequisites: A valid Gmail account is required, along with a basic understanding of how to use a mouse and keyboard. It is recommended that you have taken our Internet Basics class.

Google: Getting Started

This class introduces some of the basics of Google. In this class we will discuss how to use Google for searches, learn effective search strategies, use Google Maps, and other helpful services Google provides.
Prerequisites: Getting Started with Computers or equivalent computer skills; strong keyboard and mouse skills are required.

Internet Basics

The class will introduce you to fundamental procedures for manipulating information searches on the internet — how to locate your browser, start and run a search engine, direct and evaluate information searches, and keep the useful information at hand.
Prerequisites: Getting Started with Computers or equivalent; strong keyboard and mouse skills are required.

Microsoft PowerPoint Basics

This class is an introduction to Microsoft PowerPoint 2010. This class will cover the basics of how to create a professional-looking presentation using PowerPoint. It will cover slides, transitions, animations, and adding pictures.
Prerequisites: Getting Started with Computers or equivalent computer skills; strong keyboard and mouse skills are required.

Microsoft Word: Getting Started

This class is an introduction to Microsoft Word 2010. You will learn how to use the Menu and Tool bars, Spell Check, and the Help menu. This class will also cover creating, saving, and opening documents, along with copy and paste techniques.
Prerequisites: Getting Started with Computers or equivalent computer skills; strong keyboard and mouse skills are required.

Microsoft Word: Intermediate

This class introduces some of the more advanced features commonly used in Microsoft Word 2010. You will learn how to use templates, create tables, and learn formatting skills.
Prerequisites: Microsoft Word: Getting Started or equivalent computer skills; strong keyboard and mouse skills are required.

Online Safety & Privacy

This class will present an overview of how to protect your computer and yourself while working online. The topics discussed will include anti-virus programs, spyware, firewalls, cookies, Trojan Horses, phishing, pharming, other email scams, and various malware. You will learn how to spot potential problems and how to protect your computer.
Prerequisites: It is recommended that you have taken our Internet Basics class or have a basic understanding of the use of the internet.
